What is the social field?
For cultural institutions, the "social field" refers to audiences for whom access to culture is made difficult by their social or economic vulnerability.
The mission of national monuments is to develop specific actions for these people who do not allow themselves to frequent cultural venues, and to do so in close collaboration with national or local structures involved in the fight against exclusion (social centers, "youth" departments of town halls, associations helping newcomers, youth protection services, etc.).
Throughout the year, the Centre des Monuments Nationaux develops its activities in the social field, notably through its involvement in the "Vivre Ensemble" mission, a partnership with the Cultures du Cœur association, and annual participation in the national event "Les Portes du Temps", which in 2017 became "C'est mon Patrimoine!".
Alongside these initiatives, the Centre des Monuments Nationaux also enters into partnerships with other national organizations, with a variety of profiles, to help people in social difficulty.
Visit offer
The monument's educational department offers tours and workshops to discover the fortified village and the "Little Bighorn, by Ousmane Sow" exhibition.
These walks are a privileged opportunity to familiarize oneself with the site, to feel more "at home" and to share a moment of conviviality.
